Director M. Manikandan decided to exclude songs from his upcoming second Tamil directorial "Kutramum Dhandanayum" based on the feedback he received from audiences. He says engaging writing is enough to keep viewers hooked.

"If your story is engaging enough, I don't see the need to include songs in a film. I came to this conclusion based on the feedback I received from audiences, who felt songs broke the narrative in recent Tamil films," Manikandan told IANS.

For the film's background score, Mani has roped in composer G.V. Prakash Kumar.

Starring Vidharth in the lead, "Kutramum Dhandanayum" is expected to go on floors Oct 15. Mani had committed to this project even before he started working on "Kaaka Muttai", which recently had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.

Vidharth's brothers are producing "Kutramum Dhandanayum".

Meanwhile, Mani also said that "Kaaka Muttai", which will soon be screened at Rome Film Festival, has been selected for two other international film festivals.

"I'm waiting for the official announcement, so I can't reveal the names of the fests. But I'm happy that the film is receiving international acclaim," he added.
