Having completed filming for upcoming Tamil thriller "Chennaiyil Oru Naal", a remake of Malayalam hit "Traffic", actor Lakshmy Ramakrishnan says she has tried to push the envelope to avoid comparison with Fathima Babu.

"There is a tendency to believe the original is always the best and, therefore, a remake is always prone to comparison. It becomes even more challenging when you, as an actor, get to essay an important character from the original in the remake," Lakshmy told IANS.

Lakshmy plays the role, which was originally played by Fathima Babu, for which she received critical acclaim.

"It was challenging for me to play the same role for which Fathima was lauded. However, I knew I had to push the envelope to ensure that the audiences don't compare our roles. I tried to be spontaneous but never tried to imitate and I think that helped me the most," she said.

Based on a real incident, the film is about how through an accident a young boy intertwines multiple stories of other characters in the film.

"Chennaiyil Oru Naal" has an ensemble cast of Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Prasanna, Cheran, Radhika Sarathkumar, Nassar, Parvathi Menon and Iniya, among others.

Shaheed Khader has directed the film, which is likely to be remade in Kannada and Hindi.

Meanwhile, Lakshmy is busy wrapping up the shoot for upcoming bilingual "Pianist".
