The Desire is an upcoming Hindi feature film scripted and directed by R. Sarath. The off-beat movie has been selected to the New York City International Film

Festival, 2011 and will be screened on August 24.

It is produced by Sunanda Shetty under the banner of Ten Golden Star, and co-produced by Shi Yun.

Shilpa Shetty and Chinese actor Xia Yu play the lead roles. Anupam Kher, Jayapradha, Vikram Gokhale, and Asif enact important characters in the movie as well. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Viswamohan Bhat have given the soundtrack for the movie. Shot in Kerala, Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Nasik, Mumbai, and Andhra Pradesh in India and in various locales in Malayasia, the film boasts of some scenic locales and much visual diversity!

The Desire is a film about "dance, music, art, culture and emotions". It tells the journey of an Indian classical dancer, Goutami (played by Shilpa Shetty), and the love story between her and a Chinese artist, Jai Leang, whom she meets during a travel assignment.

The film's shooting started in January 2009, is currently in its production stage and was expected for a public release in mid-2009 but was not released due to some production problems. Here's bringing you a first look at Shilpa's unconventional bald look in the movie. What are your thoughts?
