Aish Bags 'Heroine' Slot!

Madhur Bhandarkar's highly anticipated venture next, Heroine, has finally found its leading lady in the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. With this said venture, Bhandarkar returns to what he does best - candid film making, and dark revelations!

Heroine is said to explore the troubled and dark lives of the fairer inmates of the glamour world (yes, one more time), inspired by the disastrous personal lives of the likes of international icons, late Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. The ingenuity involves setting Heroine against a contemporary backdrop of Indian cinema, hoping to capture the latent tribulations of being a filmstar in today's age.

Sources reveal Heroine was initially offered to Kareena Kapoor, but things failed to materialize with the star. Almost not surprising, after failure at similar attempts during the casting of previous projects Page 3 and Fashion, wherein also, Bebo had been Madhur's primary choice. One can't help but wonder what prompts Kareena to turn him down offer after offer, despite his evident success. Acting challenge much?!

Moving on for now however, lets focus on the Bachchan bahu who steps into the shoes. Needless to say, Bhandarkar is extremely pleased with Aish's involvement in Heroine, as he believes Rai has the makings of aptly portraying his lead character with conviction.

The script of the film we hear, had to undergo multiple changes with the involvement of Aishwarya. The film's dramatic quotient has been toned down, and objectionable parts have been revised upon the famous diva's intervention.

Meanwhile, Aishwarya plans to disclose her role in the film during her visit to the Cannes Film Festival this year.
