The leggy actress was detained in Mumbai by customs as she was returning from the IIFA Awards in Toronto, Canada. Anushka had been carrying unaccounted gold and diamond jewelry, along with items worth 35 Lakh Rupees. After 8 hours of questioning at the International airport, she was finally granted permission to leave.

Minissha Lamba

Just as Minissha was crossing the green channel at the Chhatrapati Shivaji on her return from the Cannes Film Festival, the petite actress was taken into custody by the officials for the same reason as Anuskha - Minissha had unaccounted jewellery worth 50 Lakh Rupees.

Preity Zinta

This April, just as Preity was about to board a Dehli flight, she was stopped for a security check by the Central Industrial Security Force who asked for proof of her identity. Preity became vexed, leading to a heated argument between the official and the actress broke out.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

The Pakistani singer was on his way to Karachi from Dubai after performing in India for his "Aman Ki Asha" concert, when he was detained by the Team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence at the Delhi airport. The singer was accused of carrying a great amount of unaccounted foreign currency.

Shah Rukh Khan

Badshah Khan had visited the United States as Chief Guest of Honour at a South Asian event in 2009. Just as he was returning, he was stopped by authorities due to his last name being on the most common list. The superstar was taken into custody for two hours and his baggage was thoroughly checked. He was also forbidden from making any calls but was released when Congress MP Rajiv Shukla spoke to the officials and the Indian consulate.

Shilpa Shetty

Due to a look-out notice registered by a court in Rajasthan on the base of obscenity when the actress and Hollywood actor Richard Gere were seen kissing in public, Shilpa was stopped by the officials at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Mumbai. The actress was on her way to the IIFA awards in London.

Bipasha Basu

Bipasha had just returned from London where she was shooting the film Players when officials detained her at the airport. She was found guilty to have been carrying goods worth Rs. 65 000 that she had bought, but had not notified the officials in an effort to avoid custom taxes. The actress admitted to her mistake and was fined Rs.10 000 before she was released.

Aishwariya Rai Bachchan

In 2006, Aishwariya was detained at the Mumbai airport after she was returning from the shooting of Jodha Akhbar. The officials had found a package containing Rs. 24 000 from an Indian event organizer in the Netherlands during one of the routine check ups of foreign mail by the postal department of Mumbai. Aish's lawyer claimed that the actress was no way connected to the package and did not know where it was from.
