Bollywood actors
Akshay Kumar and
Salman Khan have made it to the top 10 of the annual Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid male actors of 2018. While Akshay grabbed the seventh position with total earnings around $40.5 million, Salman stood at the ninth position with total earnings of $38.5 million.
Meanwhile, the list is topped by George Clooney with an estimated $239 million between June 2017 and June 2018. He is followed by Dwayne Johnson and Robert Downey Jr at the second and the third position respectively. According to Forbes, the top 10 actors in the list have collectively earned some $784 million in the past one year.
Interestingly, Akshay had two releases this year - Padman and GOLD. While Padman collected over Rs 100 crore at the domestic market, his recently released film GOLD is also raking in moolah at the box-office. Forbes has termed Akshay as "one of Bollywood's leading men" by saying that "He still mints millions from backend profits and endorsing some 20 brands, including Tata and Eveready."
On the other hand, Salman's
Race 3 also entered the 100-crore club. The list describes him as,
"This Bollywood mainstay continues to produce and star in hits such as Tiger Zinda Hai, cashing in on backend profits. Coupled with a slew of endorsements from Suzuki motorcycles to Chlormint gum, he remains one of India's top earners."
Forbes has been compiled its 2018 list estimating pre-tax earnings from June 2017-June 2018.
