Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer upcoming film 'Raazi' has been making the right buzz for its strong plot and the characters strikingly amazing performance in the trailer. This film is adapted from a book Calling Sehmat where an Indian Spy (Sehmat) is married off to a Pakistani Military Officer at the time of Indo-Pakistan war in 1972.
Since the film partially talks about Pakistan, director Meghna Gulzar was quipped if the movie will release in Pakistan. To which she expressed, "The film is releasing worldwide. We just hope the film releases in Pakistan and as of now, there's no plan. It should not be about just Raazi. Our films are anyway not releasing in Pakistan which is sad. I believe cultural exchanges shouldn't be affected by politics".
Not just Raazi, but the recently released film 'Tiger Zinda Hai' which was based on the friendship between Pakistan and India, too didn't release in Pakistan.
Talking about Alia's character Sehmat, the director stated, "Sehmat is an ordinary, simple 20-year-old girl with an innate strength which we all have in us, and we do things if circumstance demands... that we possibly won't do otherwise. So, the character needed to remain vulnerable, feminine and fragile; no matter what else was going on around her".
When we asked if Alia has justified the character that she is playing, Meghna stated, "Absolutely she has. She's done a great job and I'm extremely proud of her".
Raazi is scheduled to release on 11th May 2018.
