R. Balki's directorial 'Pad Man' is a biographical film on Arunachalam Muruganantham, a man who invented low-cost sanitary napkins. Menstrual hygiene, a topic which still has a stigma attached to it, Balki made is possible to talk about Periods in open with this film.
While the industry cannot stop thanking the filmmaker for this film, Balki emphasizes that Pad Man was once in a lifetime opportunity for both Akshay Kumar and him. Present for an event yesterday, Balki spoke about his journey towards this film.
The filmmaker expressed, "The fact that this film talks about a story that involves a Pad in the center, I would never get a chance or an opportunity like that. That's why we went on this journey and I guess this is the same reason why Akshay went on this journey".
"Pad Man was once in a lifetime opportunity which can create a change. I completely believe in this way of entertainment education. I truly believe that this is the most powerful form of education. Entertainment is what we all want in life and if you want to get educated it's through entertainment", Balki further added.
This film is a proud moment for India because as R. Balki rightly said, "We've all called India with a lot of names. We have called ourselves regressive, not forward but funnily enough, we are the first country in the world to address this topic. That's a really proud moment for us as a Nation to address this topic in actually a simple way".
Well, we couldn't be more proud of this Akshay Kumar - Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor starrer film. Do you agree with what Balki said? Let us know in the comment section below.
