Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' has been making a strong buzz in the industry courtesy of the number of controversies the film has faced. From death threats to agitation against the release of the film, Padmaavat will finally see the light of the day on 25th January.
The official announcement of the release date made the fans rejoice and created a sense of relief for the makers. Bollywood has a pattern of promotions before the release of each film, and we expected the same from Padmaavat. But, the catch here is that the lead cast - Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor will not promote the film.
Yes, you heard it right! A source told Mid-Day, "The makers want to keep promotional work minimal to avoid controversy. Also, the cast members are busy with other commitments".
There is no doubt that Padmaavat is 2018's much-anticipated film. A few days back, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed Padmaavat, after suggesting five edits, including the film's title. The film was earlier titled as Padmavati.
Padmaavat will be the first Indian film to have a global IMAX 3D release. The film will clash with Akshay Kumar's social drama film 'Padman' which releases on the same date.
The no promotions strategy could work out in the favor of the makers as after all this havoc; a no-stress release is the only thing the makers are looking forward to.
Padmaavat is a tale of Rani Padmini aka Deepika Padukone who committed Jauhar after Alauddin Khilji aka Ranveer Singh invaded her Chittor fort. Rawal Ratan Singh is essayed by Shahid Kapoor who is the Raja of the story.
