However, after reading the reports Preity took to her Twitter page and clarified that her real name is Preity Zinta and not Preetam Singh Zinta. She tweeted, "Media has been reporting that my name was Preetam Singh Zinta & I changed it to Preity Zinta for Movies - IT'S NOT TRUE.  #Fakenews #Bachaao"

Preity also said that Bobby Deol called her Preetam Singh for fun on the sets of Soldier. She tweeted, "During Soldier's shoot @thedeol named me Pritam cuz "I was one of the boys."The movie became a hit & so did the name ... Grrr #Samjhe"
