Filmmaker Vipul Shah's directorial "Namastey London" won hearts in 2012. The Akshay Kumar - Katrina Kaif starrer flick rightly held on to the romantic chord with its strong plot-line. So, when the second installment of the Namaste franchise was announced it was but obvious to create excitement amongst the audience.
Actors Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra are playing the lead roles in this second installment. Previously titled as Namastey Canada, director Vipul Shah revealed that the title has been changed to Namastey England. Vipul reveals, "We have made the change primarily because I think the script is far more culturally suited in London than in Canada".
It's also reported that Akshay had earlier already registered this title which later noticed some tiff between him and the makers. However clarifying the same, Vipul stated, "Akshay has been most gracious from the outset, and had given me the title much earlier. But I had by then already made the choice of 'Canada'. The change in title happened a month ago and the film's team has already done a reccee in the UK".
The filmmaker also revealed that this film will not be a sequel to Namastey London and will have its own world. Talking about the film's schedule, Vipul informs, "January will be dedicated to prep and workshops. Shooting kicks off in Punjab in the first week of February, followed by a London schedule".
Earlier reports also suggest that this film will have another heroine than Parineeti Chopra. However, there will be no love triangle nor will she play Arjun's love interest in the film. It's also reported that her role will be an eminent one to take forward the story. Apparently, Pooja Hegde might give her nod to this role.
This film is slated to release on December 7, 2018.
