Sanjay Leela Bhansali's helmed film 'Padmavati' has created havoc in the country with every controversy surrounding the film getting uglier by each passing day. This film which was expected to be the biggest blockbuster of 2017 is now in deep trouble.
Today, the Delhi High Court dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking direction to set up an expert committee to certify that historical facts were not distorted in the Padmavati, a period film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The court said the petition, filed by an unknown political party called Akhand Rashtrawadi Party, against the release of the film was "hopeless" and "misconceived", and would only "encourage people who are agitating against the film" featuring Deepika Padukone as a Rajput queen Padmavati.
Further, the petitioner wanted a committee that comprised of historians, social activist and retired Delhi High Court judge as head to make critical analyzation of the film starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
About the status of the film's release, the Delhi High Court informed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will decide on the release.
The court further clarified that it could not intervene since the CBFC was yet to decide about its certification.
