Actor Nikhil Dwivedi has come out and slammed everyone for showing no support to actors and filmmakers.
In a lengthy and heart-wrenching post, he has expressed his concerns and extended his support for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati" that stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles.
The film that was slated to released on December 1, 2017 has now been postponed.
Here's what he posted on Facebook:
"K Asif made Mughal E Azam. It is hailed as amongst the biggest & the best we ever made. It wud ve been impossible for it to probably even release today.
No dont blame the BJP Govt for this.
This regression started almost 30 yrs ago supported by the silence of successive impotent Govts. The template was set a long ago. All powers that may be are merely following that template. Pandering to senseless demands or inaction against violent threats against the members of film fraternity started during regimes of the Cong Govts & unfortunately now have acquired legitimacy.
Also do not blame the film fraternity for not showing overt support to each other. Nobody showed it during release of Fire either almost 20 years ago. Or when Bachchans were targeted during the The Last Lear or Shah Rukh Khan during the release of My Name is Khan & there are numerous other examples. No its not because we are not united. It's because each one who shows such support will be marked & targetted separately over other issues to be taught a lesson. Do you know why the powers can do that & get away with it? Because you the people also do not take us seriously or give us the same kind of respect you would give to any other professional. Say a doctor or an engineer or a banker or a soldier. We are seen as an uneducated yet privileged class who has got it too easy. We are seen as those don't really make a difference to the society.
Sad part is that this is not going to change anytime soon. Be it any power at the center or state. Sadder is that it would ve taken just one shot of political will to change it all.
#Padmavati"
