Post that, he did "Tamasha", "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" and "Jagga Jasoos" which did have the different storyline but, it does fall into the category of romantic films. However, the films did decent at the box-office but, the actor is more keen towards different genres from now on.
According to the sources, "Ranbir has done many romantic roles and films. He doesn't want to be known just for doing the same kind of genre now. Also, an actor like him can do many things and nail it. So post Sanjay Dutt's biopic he chose Ayan Mukerji's sci-fi film, "Brahmastra" as he wanted something different to work on. As his next (Sanjay Dutt's biopic) reportedly titled as "Sanju" is much-awaited and has already created buzz around the people. Many filmmakers are now in talks of getting him on board in their films. He is only hoping for more interesting films offered to him."
Recently there were also some reports about Ranbir and director Raja Krishna Menon to collaborate on a film. As Menon's last film "Chef" did not work, the buzz is that he is now planning an action-thriller with Ranbir Kapoor.
However, in an interview, he denied saying he has not offered him any film as yet but, just had a meeting to know in which type of film Ranbir is looking forward to work in.
