Anushka Sharma to play Shahid's heroine in Batti Gul Meter Chalu?

Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' has been in news ever since it has been announced as there have been various names speculated for the female lead.

Till recently, names of Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor were doing rounds but Katrina couldn't give a nod as she has many projects on her plate. About Shraddha, it was reported that the makers are in negotiation with the actress.

Reportedly, not Katrina or Shraddha but Anushka Sharma has been approached for this project. Shahid's film is produced by KriArj Entertainment who are also producing Anushka's Pari along with her home banner Clean State Films. As per the latest buzz, Anushka who has a good professional relationship with Prernaa Arora might be the one to bag this project.

A source revealed, "The film is being discussed with Anushka. She has liked the concept but is yet to give a nod. The final confirmation should happen any time now since the film's scripting is almost done and it would be ready to go on floors once the female lead is on board".

Previously while giving an official statement, Prernaa had said, "Katrina Kaif was the first choice for the role and we have been in discussions. Like any project, this one too has to take into consideration several factors including artist dates and other logistics that need to be worked out. We also have other top leading actresses in mind as Batti Gul Meter Chalu will need powerful actors. So far, no narration has been givenwe are still in the process of finalizing the name and are going step by step".

If Anushka is confirmed as the lead then this will be Shahid - Anushka's second film after the 2010 film Badmaash Company. Batti Gul Meter Chalu is scheduled to release on 31^st August 2018.
