Filmmaker Omung Kumar directed Bhoomi which marked the comeback of actor Sanjay Dutt. The film failed to gain good impression at the box office and disappointed Sanjay's fans.
Now, Sanjay Dutt has opted out of Omung Kumar's upcoming project The Good Maharaja for reasons best known to him. A source close to the actor confirmed that Sanjay will not be a part of Omung's next project.
Sanjay is currently shooting for Tigmanshu Dhulia's film Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 and is concentrating on his home production, which is a remake of the Malayalam film Prashthanam. The film will go on floors next year. Before that, he will shoot for Torbaz, in which he plays an army officer, says the source.
Besides these films, Sanjay will also be seen in Sadak 2 which is a sequel to 1991 film Sadak in which he originally stared. Producer Mukesh Bhatt feels that at this stage of Dutt's career, Sadak 2 would've been the right film for Sanjay's comeback.
He said to a leading daily, "Sadak 2 is the story of the same man, but 25 years later. The reason I think this should've been his comeback film is that Sadak was a cult film and Sanjay became a superstar after this film. The script is almost ready and we plan to roll by end of this year or early next year."
Coming back to Omung Kumar's The Good Maharaj, did Sanjay leave the film because of Bhoomi's failure at the box office?
