Shah Rukh Khan's mentor and famous actor and filmmaker, Lekh Tandon is no more. The veteran passed away today at this residence in Powai at around 5:45 pm.

His cremation will take place tomorrow.

Lekh Tandon, had played pivotal roles in many Bollywood films like "Swades", "Chennai Express", "Rang De Basanti" and had also featured in Television show "Sumit Sambhal Lega". He has also directed films like "Professor", "Amrapali" and "Khuda Kasam".

His biopic, Amrapali starring Vyjayanthimala Bali and Sunil Dutt, was India's submission to the 39th Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film.

The renowned director is credited for discovering Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan by giving him his first project - TV serial "Dil Dariya". SRK has time and again stated that he is blessed to have a mentor like him.

We pray for his departed soul to rest in peace and may lord grant courage to his family to bear the loss.
