Farhan Akhtar and
Adhuna Akhtar who tied the knot in 2000 announced their split last year. The couple decided to part ways after 3 years of dating and 16 long years of marriage. They have two daughters together, Shakya and Akira.
In October last year, they had filed for a mutual divorce. But, before passing any judgments, the court ordered them to have counseling sessions. For the last six months, they were reported to have undergone counseling sessions. However, things didn't work out and they stayed adamant on their decision and wanted to go ahead with their separation.
Yesterday, after hearing both the sides, the Bandra family court finally granted them an official divorce.
As per reports, the custody of their two daughters has been given to Adhuna but Farhan also has been given the complete access to meet them whenever he wants to.
According to a report in Mid-day, yesterday the judge called out their case twice in the morning but Farhan and Adhuna arrived in the second half with their lawyers and directly went to the marriage counselor VS Athavale. Shortly afterward, they appeared before judge MM Thakare, who granted them their divorce.
Farhan's lawyer Fazaa Shroff-Garg confirmed this news to the tabloid and said, "The divorce by mutual consent was allowed by the family court in Bandra."
