Darshan Kumar read the Quran for his role in Mirza Juuliet.
Hailing from Delhi,
Darshan Kumaar comes from a family of Jats. His upbringing has been very Hindu-centric, with little knowledge of Islam. So when he chose to morph into Mirza, for his forthcoming film Mirza Juuliet he decided he should know the basics of the Islamic religion to get his character correct.
"There are many who might not have bothered, but I just felt that who you are, your upbringing makes you walk, talk and behave in a particular way, your body language, for instance, changes. Someone who reads the namaz every day would do it in a particular way, while someone who is doing it for the first time, there will be a little awkwardness in his movements. I didn't want to look awkward doing something which my character is supposed to know, hence I asked a couple of my Muslim friends and colleagues to help me with it," stated Darshan, who is said to have learned to read the Namaz for the film.
Not only did the actor learn to offer Namaz, but he also read the Quran to understand the mind of his character.
Kudos, for someone with Darshan's passion for the art is really rare to find.
The film starring
Darshan Kumaar and Pia Bajpai, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Swanand Kirkire, Chandan Roy Sanyal, is directed by Rajesh Ram Singh and is a story of strong emotions and above all a mixed confusion of all these emotions.
Shemaroo and Green Apple Media presents in association with Falansha Media Pvt Ltd production, Mirza Juuliet. The film is produced by Neeraj Kumar, Burman, Ketan Maru and Amit Singh and is slated to release on 7th April, 2017.
