Actor-comedian Sunil Grover's film 'Coffee with D' recently hit the silver screens. In his film, he is seen impersonating famed news presenter Arnab Goswami. The actor has also received immense applause from the audience for his portrayal of Arnab.
As the promotions of the film had kicked off, an official letter from Sunil to PM. Narendra Modi was been spread in the media.
In the letter, Sunil was quoted urging the prime minister to nab underworld don Dawood Ibrahim for his involvement in 1993 bomb blast case.
But, the 39 years old actor has denied having sent any letter to the PM. He says, "I never wrote that open letter to Modiji. Anyone who knows me would know that it isn't my language at all. The film's makers released that letter without my consent," Sunil said.
Makers Vishal Mishra and producer Vinod Rahani -- had earlier claimed that they were receiving threat calls. They were also upset with Sunil for not promoting the film.
However, the actor argued that "It's very simple. I haven't been shown the film. I don't know what the content is. I asked the producer-director Vishal Mishra repeatedly to be shown the film, and he kept saying I'll be shown the film."
"But eventually, he didn't show it to me. Aaj-kal-aaj-kal mein waqt nikal gaya (Time just went by). Now it's too late."
Ask him about the reason for not being shown him film and he says, "I don't know. Only they can answer that. But I ceased to promote the film when I realized they won't show it to me."
Sunil is popularly known for playing the character of Gutthi on Kapil Sharma's show.
