Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been conferred with the honorary doctorate by Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.

Shah Rukh has been honored with a doctorate for his "extraordinary contribution in the promotion of Urdu language and culture" by Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad.

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee conferred the 'Badshah of Bollywood' with the doctorate on Monday morning.

After receiving the award, SRK gave a thank you and also remembered his mother by saying, 'Very happy. My mother would have been very happy as I am getting this honour in Hyderabad, her birthplace.'
