Was the WIN JUSTIFIED? Sonam Kapoor v/s Alia Bhatt

Few days back, there were reports in the media that Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are vouching for the same award i.e. "Best Actress". While Sonam felt that she is more deserving for her role in 'Neerja', Alia felt that she should get for 'Udta Punjab' and 'Dear Zindagi'.

But, at the end Alia bagged two awards and Sonam got none! Reason? Alia Bhatt's mentor, Karan Johar's influence.

An insider has been quoted by a popular daily, "Maybe Sonam lost out the award because they were many people in the jury connected to Karan Johar's (also the host for the evening) Dharma Productions and they voted for KJo's protg.

Also, the award show is being aired on the channel that has landed the rights to show Alia's next film. Alia deserved the award for DZ for sure, the second one is debatable." (sic)
