'Action king' Arjun rules Tamil box office

Chennai, Sep 19 (IANS) Action king Arjun's 'Marudumalai' has got a fantastic opening across Tamil Nadu and has even toppled 'Sivaji: The Boss' to reach the top.

The top five Tamil films are:

1. 'Marudumalai' - Director: Suraj. A masala film of Arjun that reminds one of 'Kireedam' but the comedy scenes between Arjun and Vadivel have gone in the film's favour.

2. 'Ammuvagia Naan' - Director: Padma Magan. The success of this sensitively made film on a sex worker has surprised many. Kudos to the team for their courage!

3. 'Sivaji' - Director: Shankar. The blockbuster is going to celebrate 100 days now.

4. 'Urchagam' - Director: Ravichandran. The film was released without any fanfare and got an average opening but its collections are getting better by the day.

5. 'Arya' - Director: Balasekhar. With the success of 'Arya', a typical formula entertainer, R. Madhavan has strengthened his fan base in B and C centres.
