As reported earlier, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was thrown out from a "Ram Leela" show that was supposed to take place in his hometown Budhana in Uttar Pradesh. The reason for his removal was stated to be his religion i.e. Muslim. On the demand of political party Shiv Sena, the actor was asked to leave the show. They complained that a Muslim actor cannot take part in the Hindu play.
On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra today, actress Swara Bhaskar said she hopes the "pathetic mentality" which disallowed a talented artiste like Nawazuddin Siddiqui from participating in the Ram Leela, gets eliminated from the society.
She took to her social media page to share her views: "May we rise above the pathetic mentality that disallows a Muslim artist from participating in a Ram Leela performance. Nawazuddin Siddiqui."
She further added: "This Dussehra may we rise above the demon within us -- the demon of hatred, stupidity, bigotry and blind superstition. Burn Proto-fascism."
