Udta Punjab has finally got the justice its makers have been fighting for through the week. With a continuous row of a series of orders from the Censor Board with rumours of bans, political upheavals and 89 cuts issued by the Board, it will now be released with only 1 cut, 3 disclaimers and an 'A' certificate as ordered by the High Court.
The co-producer Anurag Kashyap along with the cast and crew and many other eminent film makers of the industry backed the film's release with a protest for few or no cuts at all. Their efforts have now been successful and the film is all set to release on the 17th of June.
As mentioned in a leading magazine website, the Court said, "The film just depicts the drug situation in Punjab and does not defame the northern state. It is completely in the hands of the makers to choose the setting, pattern and theme of the film. The blanket ban on the movie 'Udta Punjab' cannot be justified."
The entire industry is rejoicing this moment of great joy as for them it is their window of opportunity to be able to talk about important matters through art and in Bollywood especially, through films. Even fans have not failed to show their support for the same.
