New Delhi witnessed the 63rd National Film Awards recently and
Bajirao Mastani sweeped the floor with 7 awards including Best Director for Sanjay Bhansali and Best Film too. To celebrate the enormous success of the blockbuster, which also recently completed 100 days of being in the cinema, the director hosted a success party which saw all of B-Town's stars and starlets in attendance. But Bhansali's Mastani, the leading lady of the film was missing from the reverie.
While an invitee of the party, according to a leading daily, said that Deepika's absence was due to her prior commitments to her Hollywood film which she is shooting with Vin Diesel right now, another source had a different story to tell.
The source revealed, "She was really hurt by the National Awards snub. She had won all the popular awards for her performance in
Piku and
Bajirao Mastani. She expected the National Award too. When it didn't happen she lost the appetite to celebrate with her
Bajirao Mastani team" (SIC). She had even flown down to India for the ceremony, just for a day! The loss of the award saddened her deeply and she wasn't in the mood to celebrate, thus her absence from the party.
Sanjay Bhansali was also quoted as saying in an interview post the awards a few days back that although Kangana had done a good job in Tanu weds Manu Returns, for which she bagged her Best Actress National Award, he would have liked it better if Deepika would have won.
However, beau
Ranveer Singh, who did not win the National Award too, joined his favorite director sportingly for a night of celebrations!
