Almost 3 years have passed since Bollywood actress Jiah Khan committed suicide at her residence in Mumbai. Soon after the incident, Jiah's beau Sooraj Pancholi was charged for 'Abetment of suicide' but was later released on bail.
The case is under scrutiny by the Bombay HC and is now once again in the news. The actress's mother Rabia Khan has filed a petition concerning the case at the Bombay High Court.
According to a report in a leading daily, Rabia wants to seek FBI's intervention in her daughter's suicide case as Jiah was a US citizen. She has mentioned about several negligence made by the CBI in investigating the case. Rabia has filed her petition against the CBI's report which stated Jiah's death to be a suicide and not a homicide.
The HC had formulated a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case as the report filed by the CBI in December, 2015 was found to be inappropriate.
Now, the actress' mother has urged that FBI would play an important role in helping the SIT committee to investigate the matter more efficiently.
Rabia in her petition has also argued about the lack of transparency in the inspection of the case which in turn has given rise to many questions regarding the CBI report.
The petition is now slated to be heard on 24th February, 2016 in by the HC.
