Singer Sona Mohapatra has lent her voice to a song which plays in a video aimed at creating awareness about cleft deformities, and how corrective surgeries are helping in transforming lives.

As part of Muskaan, a nationwide cleft lip initiative by Himalaya Lip Care, a video which traces the transformation of Jyothi, a cleft patient from Darbur village in Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru, has been launched.

The film brings alive the emotions and aspirations of the girl born with a cleft lip and palate as she undergoes a cleft lip surgery that gives her, her first real smile.

Composer Karan has crafted the music for the video, while Sona has lent her soulful voice to the background score.

Talking about it, she said: "This cause is extremely close to my heart thus singing the track was emotionally overwhelming. Everyone has a right to smile and I would like to encourage all of you to spread awareness on this initiative Muskaan."

Himalaya Lip Care has also partnered with Smile Train India to enable the first smiles of 100 cleft patients this year.
