Tier 2 cities did maximum shopping in 2015: Report

New Delhi, Jan 8 (IANS) In 2015, almost 55 percent sales for Amazon Fashion came from tier 2 cities as compared to 45 percent in 2014. Jaipur and Nagpur topped the list in terms of sales, followed by Surat, reveals a sales report shared by the e-commerce site.

These cities are closely followed by Coimbatore, Kanchipuram, Vishakhapatnam, Chandigarh, Indore, Ernakulam and Guwahati.

The overall growth of tier 2 markets has been about 600 percent. Also, use of mobile has seen over 900 percent growth and the numbers are similar in comparison to tier 1 cities with 950 percent growth in mobile, reads a statement released by Amazon Fashion.

Also, the major fashion categories where consumers from tier 2 cities have brought from are women's traditional wear, men's shoes, men's sports shoes, men's watches, men's tops, women's watches, handbags and accessories, backpacks and men's bottoms.

Women's tops and bottoms has shown the highest growth with YoY (year on year) percent followed by men's and boys' T-shirts and bottoms on the website. Eyewear, handbags and accessories and men's sports shoes also feature in the top growing categories list for tier 2 cities.

Also, watches dominate the most gifted items list followed by jewellery in 2015.
