Bollywood and controversies are almost synonymous, where an actor's life is incomplete and uninteresting with bytes, rumors and issues. It can safely be said, there is rarely any popular actor who hasn't tasted controversy and been in the news for the right and wrong reasons too. Apart from the famous 'Intolerance' propaganda which had Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan involved, there were many more issues which sparked major interests throughout the year.
Vishaka Singh Social Media Controversy
Actress Vishaka Singh who is best known for her roles in 'Fukrey' and 'Bajate Raho' was involved in an online controversy, where on her official social media page, a random person posted a vulgar comment about her private parts watching a picture, to which the actress replied fantastically and shut many mouths for which she was applauded.
Radhika Apte Nude Clip Controversy
The critically acclaimed actress grabbed several eyeballs this year, when a clip of her frontal nudity video clip went viral on social media. The clip was apparently from an Anurag Kashyap directed short film. The directed was raged and filed an FIR on the same.
Aishwariya Rai's racist ad controversy
Aishwariya Rai Bachchan was involved in a major mishap when earlier this year, she shot for a jewelery brand and the print ad featured a dark and emaciated boy's caricature holding an umbrella over the fair and beautiful Aishwariya. The makers mentioned that it wasn't intended to hurt any feelings and withdrew the ad.
Gauhar Khan getting slapped on live show
Actress and reality star Gauhar Khan hit the news when on an instance, she was hosting a live reality show and was suddenly slapped by a man from the audience. The actress was petrifyingly shocked and when the man was asked the reason for doing so, he mentioned that 'being a muslim girl, she should not have worn such a short dress.'
Salman Khan's tweets on Yakub Memon
Salman Khan is fairly termed the poster boy
of controversy, and apart from his case he also received major flak for his tweets
on Yakub Memon's hanging. He mentioned it was unjust and Tiger Memon should
have been hanged instead. After an outrage, Salman apologized and deleted his
tweets.
Anushka Sharma spelling 'APJ Abdul Kalam'
incorrectly
This year saw the loss of India's best visionary and former president, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Actress Anushka Sharma meant to pay tribute to the legend by tweeting about his demise, however, got involved in a major unanticipated controversy where she spelt it incorrectly as ABJ Abdul Kalam Azad which was instantly deleted but was enough to bring in a rage.
AIB Roast Controversy
Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Team AIB and Karan Johar joined an alliance to give India's first roast comedy live show which was appreciated by selected critics and was a huge hit till some political parties started going against it and soon after a major outburst, the video on YouTube was banned causing various debates on social media.
Anurag Kashyap-KRK at loggerheads on Bombay Velvet
Anurag Kashyap's ambitious project, 'Bombay Velvet' tanked at the box office and was also panned by critics. Kamal Rashid Khan (KRK) has always been sparking major controversies due to his tweets and YouTube videos. Such a thing happened when KRK tweeted that he will not review Anurag's film as he is being threatened and asked him not to review his film to which Anurag lashed and the war of words went on for quite some time.
Sonam Kapoor calling Aishwariya Rai 'aunty' and referring
her to be from another generation
Sonam Kapoor is known to be outspoken and straightforward, however, this did not go down too well when she referred to Aishwariya Rai Bachchan as aunty and also went on to say that she belongs to another generation. This became a talking topic and later she tried hiding by telling that she was misquoted.
FTII Controversy and giving back awards
The appointment of former actor, Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) sparked a lot of protests from the students and filmmakers alike. The issue became such an outrage that some noted filmmakers which include Dibakar Banerjee and others decided to return their awards as a symbol of protests.
