This has been a year
of some small films making it big, while some big budget mega films bombing at
the box office.
Some actors wowed the
viewers and critics with their performances while some disappointed. We
short-list top ten Bollywood superstars who disappointed with either the choice
of their films or their performances this year.
Katrina Kaif

The actress, who has
been receiving significant criticism for her recent performances in 'Dhoom 3'
and 'Bang Bang!' had just one release this year, 'Phantom.' Though, the film
received considerable critical acclaim and performed average at the box office,
Katrina's performance was panned by critics where some termed it as a silly
act.
Saif Ali Khan

The actor has been
suffering a major setback when it comes to his recent films which include
'Humshakals' and 'Happy Ending' marking his entry to this category in 2014.
This year, Saif had just one release, 'Phantom' which performed averagely at
the box office and received considerable critical success, but his individual
performance was slammed by the critics.
Vidya Balan
Termed to be one of the finest actresses
in Hindi cinema, Vidya Balan has wowed the critics and audiences alike with her performances in 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Kahaani.' However, the actress has not
had a good spell at the box office lately, where her films, 'Ghankchakkar' and
'Bobby Jasoos' bombed. She had just one release this year, 'Hamari Adhuri
Kahani' which was riding on major expectations but was released to mixed
reviews and average box office performance, but most significantly, Vidya's
performance met with negative reviews.
With recent flops
like 'Ghanchakkar', 'Raja Natwarlal' and 'Ungli', Emraan's success ratio has
dipped down considerably. The year 2015 was no different for the actor, when
his two releases, 'Mr X' and 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani' did not perform well at the
box office, where Mr X was massively panned by critics and Hamari Adhuri Kahani received mixed reviews. He has the biopic on cricketer, Mohammed
Azharuddin, 'Azhar' lined up which would be a hopefully successful comeback.
Another actor who had
a solo release this year, which was a major multi-starrer and a sequel to a hit
film, 'Welcome Back' had all the ingredients of becoming a huge success.
However, with shoddy acting and baseless script, the film was at borderline in
terms of recovering its budget and met with extremely negative reviews. John's
acting received major flak and was termed as one of his worst performances of all. Imran Khan
Imran's career can be termed to be in
huge jeopardy, where the actor hasn't delivered a single hit since almost four
years. His performances in 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola', 'Once Upon A Time In
Mumbai Dobaara!' And 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' was lambasted by the critics and
audiences alike. After a huge gap, the actor had one release this year, 'Katti
Batti' which had two positives, i.e. his comfort zone of starring in a rom-com
and Kangana Ranaut as the lead co-star whose career is on a high. However, none
of the factors could help the film, where the film failed miserably at the box
office and was panned by critics too.
He had a backing of
the film, Haider which almost rejuvenated Shahid's career not only winning him
widespread critical acclaim but numerous awards too. Shahid had just one
release this year, 'Shaandaar' which had all the constituents of a blockbuster
but was a bomb at the box office and the performances of the leads also came
under major criticism.
Like Shahid, Alia too had a magical
year in 2014 where she starred in three hit films that included 'Highway', '2
States' and 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.' Her solo release this year,
'Shaandaar' was touted to be a blockbuster. However, against all expectations,
the film was a major flop where the lead actors' performances were also panned.
Many term him to be
the next megastar after Shahrukh Khan, and his performances in films like
'Rockstar' and 'Barfi!' had pretty much justified it. However, a flop spree
that started with 'Besharam' doesn't seem to be ending soon. The actor had three
releases this year which included 'Roy', 'Bombay Velvet' and 'Tamasha'. Where
Roy became one of the worst reviewed films of the year, Bombay Velvet was the
biggest flop of the year. He did find some solace with Tamasha, as it garnered
considerable critical acclaim, however, under performed at the box office.
Shahrukh Khan

The Badshah of
Bollywood just needs a mere screen presence to lift a film to its highest level
and attract eyeballs. However, the superstar has been receiving major flak with
his recent films which include 'Chennai Express' and 'Happy New Year.' This year,
he had the mega film, 'Dilwale' releasing with all the positives of re-uniting
with Kajol and directed by Rohit Shetty. Unfortunately, the film has released
to major negative reviews and extensive criticism from fans too. The actor has
a good line-up of films ahead to have a retribution with blistering
performances for which he is usually known for.
