'MARD'- Men Against Rape and Discrimination, an initiative taken
up by Farhan Akhtar has been very active towards achieving its goal since the
time of its inception. It got recognised at the Asian Social Innovation
Leadership awards. MARD's 'Chulein Aasman' was awarded as the Best Social Media
Campaign.
Recently, the actor teamed up with Music Composer Salim and
Suleiman to launch 'Chulein Aasman' under MARD to highlight the scarcity of
women participants on the internet and the need to encourage for the same.
The video was an instant hit and is serving the purpose
effectively. It also highlights a fact that only 30% of internet users in India
are women and is one of the largest gender gaps online, which can be a serious
drawback in the years to come and might even affect the dream of Digital India
big time.
Kudos to Farhan for bringing this to everyone's notice as internet is a medium,
which can empower women and open up a world of possibilities.
The campaign being spearheaded by Farhan ensures that it's a safe haven as
campaign is very close to his heart and he is very serious about it.
Currently, the
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag star is shooting for his next project, Rock
On 2, but makes sure to check with his team on all the happening around MARD on
a regular basis.
