This morning the news broke out that Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned sale of meat for four days during the Jain festival of Paryushan. As per an order issued from Deonar abattoir, sale of meat in civic markets will be discontinued and the slaughterhouse will be shut on September 10, 13, 17 and 18.
Following this news there was a flood of tweets on the social networking site. People were seen continuously sharing their opinion about the issue. One among them was actress Sonam Kapoor.
Sonam Kapoor shared an article and captioned it: "Our country is going to remain a 3rd world nation because of the intolerant misogynistic close minded few." She as well retweeted another follower's tweet that read: "We don't care about hospitals, toilets, good roads, railways or safety. We are interested in what you watch and eat." BJP. #meatban"
But, little did the Khoobsurat girl know that voicing her opinion will land her in a messy situation. Soon after her tweets she received an endless bashing for her English skills along with labeling her act "attention seeking behavior".
However, Sonam gave it all back by tweeting: "Before being judgmental assholes. What I said was a critique of the general mentality .. Which is not exclusive to the banning of meat. And the saddest thing about this whole thing is.. That it's mostly women who are calling me out on being bimbo. Guess it's not only the men!"
She also retweeted two posts that read: "@sonamakapoor u cant share ur views here..Welcome to India... Everything wrong with India is summed up in the replies @sonamakapoor is getting on twitter #whyarepeoplesostupid #omgyad"
Finally to end it all she said: "Well I guess it's back to talking about fashion and brands.. Lol".
