Some interesting facts about this romantic drama:
The film had broken the box office record of 3 idiots and became the highest-grossing Bollywood film worldwide but it was later surpassed by Dhoom 3.
While shooting a scene with Deepika which comprised of a fist-fight, King Khan got himself injured and had to undergo a shoulder surgery.
The movie was released across 3,500 theatres around the Nation which made it the widest release of any Bollywood flick then.
Chennai Express was also the first Bollywood movie to release in India and Peru (that's on the other side of the Earth as India) on the same day.
The railway station of Vasco da Gama was used as a double up, portraying Kalyan in the film.
Within four days of the release of its trailer, it received two million hits.
The movie ran in to trouble during its release in Pakistan as no distributors were ready to take it up as there were four Pakistani releases already lined up. It was only after postponing the dates that it was given the green signal.
While shooting in the Satara district of Maharashtra, the film's unit ran into trouble for using too much water from the Dhom Dam. However, after the intervention of the state's relief and rehabilitation minister the situation was brought under control.
