Ranbir Kapoor came out to support the students of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, for the protest against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman of the FTII Society.
The students of FTII posted a video of Kapoor saying that people with a respectable body of work should be given the post of responsibility in FTII which is seen as the premiere institute of filmmaking in India. He also advocated the student's right to protest the appointment.
Earlier, TV and film actor Pallavi Joshi who wrote to the
Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry stating that she does not want
to be a part of Film and Television Institute of India society owing to the
atmosphere of negativity around the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan and
the subsequent protest by students.
Jahnu Barua also offered to resign from his post in the FTII Society.
