A court in Haryana Thursday reserved the order on Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai's 20 acres of land purchase from the Panchayat in Badhsa village in Jhajjar district. The court will pronounce its verdict March 5.

The land was purchased by Ghai's production house Mukta Arts.

Earlier, Additional Civil Judge (Senior) Rajesh Sharma's court had stayed Mukta Arts from performing any activity on the land. The hearing was held at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court said the order would be pronounced Monday, said Sanjay Sharma, Mukta Arts's lawyer.

A complaint was filed by ex-sarpanches of Badhsa claiming the land belongs to the village and the Gram Panchayat and the government had no right to sell it to private firms.

In the complaint, they have also claimed that Ghai had benefited because of the "illegal" land deal.

On the basis of the complaint, Additional Civil Judge Rajesh Sharma issued notice to the Haryana government and Mukta Arts chairman Subhash Ghai.

On Oct 11, 2010, the Badhsa Gram Panchayat with the consent of Haryana government sold 20 acres of land to Mukta Arts at the rate of Rs.24,09,000 per acre.
