New Delhi, July 22 (IANS) Lisaa School of Design, a Paris-based premier design school, has opened its first Indian branch in the Gurgaon suburb of the national capital and 50 percent of the faculty will be from abroad.

'Lisaa's activity in higher education fits perfectly within the objectives of the future of India. It is a real need in India, not just for fashion, but also for architecture and design. With the high growth rate and construction booming, this seems fairly obvious,' Laurent Guichoux, education director Lisaa School of Design, told IANS.

'The Indians consumers are becoming more and more demanding. India has oriented its growth strategy towards a successful system of higher education and one can find many high level schools and universities. Lisaa wants to participate in the transmission of its know-how in this field,' he added.

The first batch will start from Sept 1 and courses offered are interior design and architecture, fashion and textile, graphic design and animation.

The institute will have a mix of Indian and international faculty.

'We believe in the benefit to get faculty from India and abroad. Lisaa Delhi will have 50 percent foreign teachers. We plan exchange programmes with the Lisaa schools in France. The students from France and India will have the possibility to study for a semester or a year in the other country,' said Guichoux.
