Loudmouth, indecent reality shows not for Saumya Tandon

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS) Television reality shows are a sure-shot way to climb up popularity ladder, but Saumya Tandon, who is co-anchoring 'Zor Ka Jhatka' with Shah Rukh Khan, doesn't want to be in any programme that is high on abuses, nudity and low on discovering talent.

'I can't do shows like 'Bigg Boss', 'Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao' because there is too much of intrusion in your privacy. So you will never ever see me in such reality shows,' Tandon told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

But she won't mind being a part of dance shows.

'I would be interested in any dance reality show. I consider dance as an art and it has a lot to do with talent as well, so it is something that will help me explore my talents and I am game for it,' she said.

The green-eyed girl made her acting debut on small screen with Sony's soap 'Aisa Des Hai Mera' and as luck would have it, she grabbed the role of Roop, the pretty sister of Kareena Kapoor, in the blockbuster 'Jab We Met'.

She hosted two seasons of Zee TV's 'Dance India Dance' in 2009 and 2010 and is now seen as a chic, suave host of 'Zor Ka Jhatka' that is currently being aired NDTV Imagine.

'It was very different to anchor this show because I wasn't given any written script. So it was very impromptu act - a lot many witty one-liners, interesting jokes. There is more tongue-in-cheek humour, and another interesting change is that I have moved away from saris and suits to western outfits like shorts and funky tops for this show,' she said.

Though the show has Shah Rukh Khan as the main anchor, the two never share the screen space. She is on the sets, while King Khan in the studio. The whole crew shot for 45 days in Argentina.

Recently Saumya met SRK at the show's event party and she admits she wasn't nervous, but impressed with the way King Khan conducts himself.

'It was such a smooth interaction and not even for an iota of a second I felt he was a superstar,' she said.

The actress, who is from Bhopal, has now shifted base to Mumbai. She believes she was lucky and thanks her good looks that made things easier.

'Television is a visual medium and looks always help. Ever since my childhood, I felt I belonged to stage and here I am trying to make the best out of it,' she said.

As of now, the actress wants to take it easy and do meatier roles.

'I have worked hard to be here. I am not someone who would like to be in news all the time, so my focus is always on doing good work and get acknowledged for it,' she said.
