New Delhi, March 22 (IANS) Television actor Nandish Sandhu, better known as Veer of the popular TV serial 'Uttaran', says youngsters try drugs out of 'curiosity' and nothing else.

Nandish was in the capital for an Anti-Drug Campaign with SMS GupShup to create awareness among youngsters about the ill-effects of drugs.

'I am more inclined towards this initiative because I have seen myself what it does to an individual and what all they have to go through. One of my friend had got trapped and became an addict. I am surprised to know the age of intakers has come down to 15 years. The sole reason to try drugs is nothing else but curiosity,' he said.

The actor, who has become a known face after his stint in 'Uttaran', said as a child he wanted to be a pilot, then aspired to be a cricketer.

'But after graduation I did a hotel management course. Then did modelling for over one-and-a-half year. It was followed by acting,' he said.

Talking about his future plans, he said: 'Obviously I want to do movies now. Even if it's not a very big banner, I don't mind doing a movie if the story and screenplay are good and the character I play is substantial.'

He is also passionate about photography and may take it up as a profession in future.

'I like photography, though I haven't done a course in photography but somehow it's a gift that my framing comes out good naturally. I want to do a photography course and start full-fledged after a while.'
