For the first time Kareena Kapoor will be seen in a mature look. Says the source, "Kareena plays the role of Avantika, who has a fulfilling job in New York as an educator. However, a visit to India due to her father's sickness, chances her to meet upon professor Ehsaan Khan played by Saif Ali Khan. Thus begins their love story."

However, the love story takes an interesting turn when for Avantika's sake, Ehsaan agrees to return with her to New York provided that they get married first. Says the source, "The newlywed couple purchases a house in an Indian neighborhood and look forward to starting a happy family life. But a welcome party thrown for them by their neighbors Hamid and Anjum begins the nightmare in their lives, albeit they've no idea when they are at it."

The source further adds, "The day after the party, Salma, someone who befriends Avantika on the night of the party, wishes to gift her a box of sweets. But when she actually turns up at Avantika's place she starts telling her that she is in grave danger and that Avantika has to help her. The entry of Salma pulls Avantika into a whirlpool of confusion and she starts disbelieving her own shadows."
