Here's a quick and short movie review of Anushka Sharma's second production, '
Phillauri'.
Based in the heart of India's Sikh community, Punjab, the movie unfolds a beautiful and pure love story. Simple, sweet and mesmerizing!
A glimpse of the story:
A young man Kanan (played by Suraj Sharma) meets a friendly ghost Shashi (played by Anushka Sharma) after he unknowingly gets married to her while tying the knot with a tree to ward off any threats to his love life.
First half builds up the plot and keeps you intrigued. It is in the second half that the story unfolds it's cards. The film keeps jumping from the present time to the past to paint a clear picture.
More than the performances, it's the story of the film that will work its way in your hearts.
What we liked:
There is a perfect blend of traditional and modern culture. The background score creates a serene ambiance and makes the story look more alluring.
Light-hearted pinch of comedy is something that keeps the energy of the film alive till the end.
After a long time did we get to see a redefined meaning of love on the canvas. The film does give a message that 'true love is eternal'.
No exaggerated drama, no violence, no unnecessary songs or intimacy is what makes this film a family entertainer.
