Neeraj Pandey has given Bollywood some stellar movies. The USP of his films that his characters are very real and the actor tend to seep into the skin of their character. M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story, is nothing different. It is a well-made biopic, but the glitch was that Neeraj has conveniently skipped some of the most controversial parts of Dhoni's career and life.
Right from the 1st scene where Dhoni dons his 7 number jersey, the audience will hear their heart thump. Neeraj along with Sushant Singh Rajput, together have put up a good show along with giving us an overview of one of India's most loved captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The movie revolves around the Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni, his life spanning from his birth to him winning India the World Cup after 28 years.
Sushant takes the movie on his shoulders and has done a fabulous job. Note how he has taken notice of every minor detail of Dhoni's mannerisms and implemented the same in his acting. He has done complete justice to the role and the cricket icon. He has managed to bring every phase of Dhoni's life alive on screen. Basically, Sushant Singh Rajput is a one man show in the film though the other actors did support him well through the course of the film.
Anupam Kher essays the role of Dhoni's father and no points for guessing that he is one gem of an actor. He portrays the anger of his son not opting for a government job perfectly well. Disha Patani who plays Sushant's earlier loves interest has done a good job for the little time that she is seen. Kiara Advani will be seen playing Sakshi, Dhoni's wife, in the film. She has nothing major to do than look pretty.
Another setback in the film is that it tends to get very lengthy. Timing up to more than three hours the movie tends to dip during the romantic scenes between Sushant and Kiara. What could have been ended in a song, just takes too long? Maybe Dhoni wouldn't have got an entry back into his house if Sakshi hadn't had a major chunk of the film, wives, you know! (Pun intended) Neeraj could have made the end credits a little more interesting had he added some trivia or old pictures of Dhoni.
All in all the movie is a must watch if you are a crazy Dhoni fan, and even more, if you are a cricket loving person. For a cricket frenzy nation, this movie is a total entertainer.
