The Filmfare Awards ceremony is routinely the
biggest event of the awards season. Not only is it India's most
prestigious awards ceremony, it is also that time of the year when the
ladies and gentlemen of Tinsel Town step out to dazzle and enthrall with
their style quotient. This year the event was held at Yash Raj
Studios, Mumbai, and was
no different. Single shades were
pre-dominant; black being the favourite, and closely followed by blush
tones. Edgier, out-of-the-box looks also scored big.
BollyCurry takes a closer look at all the glitter and glamour of the night.
Capes are definitely the "in" thing in fashion at
the moment, and
Sonam Kapoor's outfit made good use of the style. The
gorgeous woman is Bollywood's leading lady as far as fashion is
concerned; and chose a caped,
desi-white
Anamika Khanna
design for the occasion. She topped off the look with matching sandals, a
braided hairdo and just the right touch of makeup. Kapoor certainly
carried the look with her standard flair, and we
most certainly
love the earrings and the choker that adorned her elegant neck. The
dress in itself, though, looked slightly excessive and a touch overdone.
Thankfully, Kapoor knows how to pull off a look!

With
Shraddha Kapoor, it was a case of simple and breathtaking. She went for the soft and romantic look and donned a
Shehlaa gown. The look in itself wasn't very experimental, but did she look fantastic? You bet! We love the side-swept hair with the
Gehna
jewels adding to the graceful look. The minimalist make-up earned her
brownie points. All in all, this one was done just right. Sometimes less
is more and Kapoor brought it home!

While black was the dominant colour of the night,
Varun Dhawan
stood out in the crowd, donning all white. Except the black shoes and
the black tie, of course, which contrasted very well. Modeling a classic
Emporio Armani suit, the lad exuded charm and charisma. He topped off
the look with his signature beautiful smile, leaving us in awe!

Aside from the parade of blacks, it was also the night of monochromes!
Deepika Padukone turned up in an all-white
Asha Studio Couture
gown, allowing for only the wine-red lip colour to break up the monotonic
look. She finished the look with a nice updo which leads us to believe
that waist up, the outfit is stunning. However, waist
down is a
different story. The ruffles were too excessive and did not accentuate
the look at all. At the end of the day, it left her outfit seeming
incomplete. Perhaps, we just expected so much more from Padukone!

The heartthrob of many young women,
Fawad Khan bagged his first
Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and boy, did he clean up well to
receive it! He paired an Armani shirt with a Dior suit, as well as a
Louis Philippe tie, ending with Dolce and Gabbana shoes. The man can
definitely promote high end fashion brands with those looks. Among the
men, this was our favorite of the night!

Kalki Koechlin graced the event with her presence in a
Nikhil Thampi
outfit, and definitely takes the prize for the most quirky look of the night. We understand
that she wanted to go for an Indo-Western fusion look, but there's a
time and place for
bizarre outfits - Filmfare not being one of them! She finished her look with an
Outhouse belt and gold danglers. The jewelry looked fine, but the combination of a short
sari and golden
churidaar was anything but compatible. Sans the
churidaar, perhaps she would've earned another .5 from us. All in all, the outfit looked
odd, to say the least.

The
breathtakingly charming
Shahid Kapoor dressed in a black tuxedo by
Kunal Rawal for this event. Although pairing a white waistcoat with a
white shirt is slightly unusual, Kapoor pulled off the look really well. This
allowed for the black bow to stand out and we approve! We definitely
love the confidence and the casual sophistication with which he carried
the entire ensemble. Elegant and fresh were redefined tonight, making him one of
the best dressed of the night.

Ileana D'Cruz

Ileana D'Cruz mirrored the fashionista
Sonam Kapoor in going with a
caped dress. She chose not to stray away from the usual (which in most
cases is
always a safe bet), and decided to go with an all-black
Nikhil Thampi
ensemble. The metallic belt certainly added to the overall look and her
outfit's beauty. But unless the theme of the event was mythical or
superheros - which hardly makes sense - the cape looked simply out of
place. For the most part though, the experimentation worked and she was
successful in carrying the edgy look to an extent. The hairdo and the
make-up looked good on her and it was accentuated correctly by the lack
of any kind of jewellery.

Dia Mirza donned a lovely yellow
sari and contrasted it
with an electric blue blouse. She, along with several others, was one of
the best dressed of the night. Everything about the look was on point.
The colour contrast, the style of draping, the
jhumkas, allowed
for one to focus on the gal's beauty. The jewellery was minimal and the
hairdo absolutely beautiful. The orange bangles had the potential to
take away from the outfit, but she pulled it off well enough for us to
give the complaining a rest.

All in all, it was a bright night for the majority of the
leading ladies and gentlemen of Bollywood. Some won awards, some
enthralled with their performances and some just dazzled with all the
glitz and beauty. Who do you think was the best dressed of the night?
