Music Review: Kajraare

Himesh Reshammiya-starrer Kajraare's music album contains 7 original songs and 4 remixes. All the songs are composed and sung by Himesh Reshammiya himself and written by Sameer.

With Kajraare, Mr. Reshammiya is officially back in his old mode. As we all know, Himesh's previously composed music had become very popular; therefore the expectations from Kajraare do tend to be higher.
 

The album opens with the title song "Kajraare", sung by our very own Himesh. The song seems to be another one of Himesh's signature style. The only interesting part of the song is that he has experimented with fusion of western as well as traditional instruments, which makes the song better to some extent. The lyrics by Sameer are pretty decent but could have been better. Overall, it is a typical Himesh song with a catchy hook and leaves you with a feeling that you've heard it before.

The song has a remix version which has nothing new to offer. 

Next in the queue is "Rabba Luck Barsa" which seems to be really popular on TV as well as radio airwaves. The song is described by some listeners as cool and hip. But once again, we run into the same problem that it sounds a lot like Himesh's earlier melodies. The song is very much like Shaka Laka Boom Boom's title song which was also composed by Himesh. However the song may attract audiences as it has good, fresh lyrics.

Again, the song has a party mix which seems to be a job well done. However, one again, this party mix resembles lots of songs that Himesh has composed in the past, so there is nothing new in that department.

The third track in the album is "Aafreen" which turns out to be the best in the album. The traditional instruments and the dholak beats make the song stand out. Himesh has done a decent job with his singing. The song is definitely worth listening to. This slow romantic song has Harshdeep Kaur singing at the end but most of the vocals are done by Mr. Reshammiya himself.

"Tujhe Dekh Ke Armaan Jaage" is a soft song with slow beats. The composition for the song is really good but Himesh's voice just doesn't seem to fit the song, unlike Shreya Goshal's voice, which fits the mood of the song perfectly. Overall, Shreya steals the limelight of the song with her sweet voice. The song is definitely worth a listen, just for her.

Next is "Teriyaan Meriyaan", which repeats the duo of the previous song, Shreya and Himesh. Once again, the song offers soft and good music. The pauses in the song were really good, especially the Santoor part of them. Himesh is good but doesn't keep his voice steady. Although, Shreya has very little to sing, she carries it off very well.

"Wo Lamha Phir Se Jeena Hai" is sung by Himesh and Harshdeep and is written by Sameer. The song is beat-based and you can call it a typical Himesh song. Even though the lyrics are really good, the background score is a disappointment. The singers are very weak. Thumbs down for this one.

The song has a remix version, which is ,in fact, better than the original.

Last but not the least, the album offers traditional dholak-based song, "Sanu Guzra Zamana Yaad Aa Gaya". Honestly, the song is really good as compared to some of the other sound tracks in the movie, but Himesh could have experimented with singers other than himself. His voice is good but on a few notes, he comes across as tuneless. However, the song has a powerful background score; therefore the song is definitely worth listening to. Female vocals are carried out by Sunidhi Chauhan.

The song has a lounge mix, which is just average.

Overall, the film has decent music to offer. It's a totally-Himesh album as there is no other male singer other than himself. He could have experimented with some other fresh, young talent to suit the background score.
