Bollywood hottie and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta is now going to present documentaries on human trafficking. The show is going to hit MTV EXIT in September 2007. Along with documentaries on human trafficking the show will also project fictional short films and a series of public service announcements, throughout 2007-2008.

The programme to be anchored by Lara will showcase South Asian documentaries featuring some heart-wrenching stories of survivors of trafficking from Nepal, Bangladesh and India. The documentaries will insist on informing people on how we can prevent and break the chain of human trafficking. Describing the threat of trafficking the Vice Chairman of MTV Networks, Bill Roedy, said “Human trafficking has become a critical human rights issue facing young people across Asia and the Pacific. “Victims are subject to horrendous abuses, including rape and torture, with women and girls particularly affected. Education is the key to prevention. MTV EXIT is part of our commitment to help highlight issues affecting young people in Asia and across the world.”

Launching a multi-lingual website and a stream of live events on awareness and prevention of human trafficking are also parts of the proposed programme. It’s nice to see the UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador of 2001,Lara Dutta associate herself so with social and humane issues and actually keeping the promises she made during her beauty queen days.
