SLIDESHOW
Shilpa Shetty, winner of Britain's reality show
Big Brother and one of Bollywood's
most beautiful women, has finally tied the knot with Raj Kundra, in Mangalore.
However, a tense atmosphere seemed to be present! Word is that her maternal
grandmother was not invited to the wedding! Yikes, that's harsh Shilpa!
Family issues apart, Shilpa and Raj's wedding was a small
affair consisting of family and close friends only, making the guest list of about 40 people. No Bollywood colleagues however,
were invited to the wedding, apart from two close friends of Raj Kundra.
Since the engagement on October 24th less than a month ago, both Indian
and international paparazzi has been abuzz with talks of Shilpa Shetty
and fiance Raj Kundra's soon to follow wedding. So much, that Shamita
Shetty was heard to hold no regrets at her ouster from the Big Boss house (the Indian parallel of Britain's Big Brother)
earlier this month, glad that she would be with her sister for
her special day.
When the dates for sangeet and marriage
ceremony got fixed for 21st and 22nd of November respectively, offers
to cover this mega event at the close of 2009 flooded the couple-to-be!
The hype had been such that a Britain based magazine, Hallo,
offered as much as 50 lakhs for exclusive media rights. A deal, that
Shilpa turned down without secondary qualms. Shetty maintained it was
because these were auspicious events that held a special place in her
life, and would not be employed as a profit making opportunity in any
way. Inside sources however, claim that her main reason stemmed from
terms of the contract which demanded there be no possible source of
event coverage present at the venue, other than their own crew, which
included personal cameras and cell phones. The source explained
further, that Shilpa was clear she did not want inconvenience for Raj
and her guests at the hands of such media restrictions.
Other minor issues did occur on D-day. The horse that Raj was riding, had a bruise on
his leg. Nothing however, could have stopped the eager groom from making it to the wedding. After the 'baraat'
arrived and the much awaited 'shubh mahurat' moment arrived at 6:30 pm, Shilpa and Raj were pronounced
man and wife, in a traditional Indian style wedding.
Post the wedding, Mr and
Mrs. Kundra plan on hitting the Bahamas for their honeymoon, but will make
a slight pit stop at Oneness University in Chennai to seek blessing from
spiritual gurus.
From Bollycurry, we
wish Raj and Shilpa the best of luck in their future together, and may their
lives be filled with lots of happiness and loads of love!
