After a spate of cop films on the lives of encounter specialists like <i>Kagaar - Living on the edge, Ab Tak Chappan, Khakee, Aan</i> and <i>Garv - Pride and Honour</i> comes another cop film under the banner of Yunicorn Entertainment titled Nigehbaan - The Third Eye. This film is centrically focused on conflict between a duty bound police officer and a human rights activist, who are torn between their duties and their emotions.<br><br>
Mumbai is a city eclipsed with constant threats from the underworld. The police have been instructed to shoot at sight, criminals who escape due to loopholes within the legal system. However, the Human Rights Commission fight against this action, as they believe that the police are shooting innocent people under the pretext of punishing hardcore criminals. Hence, they are inevitably shielding the real criminals.<br><br>
Vikram Singh Pradhan (<b>Sameer Dharamadhikari</b>), an ambitious officer and a threat to the underworld, is a young IPS Officer posted at the City Crime Branch's Special Task Force Unit to combat the growing threat of such criminals. Nisha (<b>Sandali Sinha</b>), a woman with an independent spirit, is an unrelenting crusader and worker of the Human Rights Activist Group. Their initial encounter takes place at the Crime Branch Unit, where Vikram finds himself amused by Nisha's forthright behavior and takes a liking to her. Nisha, herself slowly becomes impressed by the fun filled sensitive side of Sameer's personality. In due course, she decides to marry him, unaware of Sameers's duties as a police officer.<br><br>
Yet, destiny has something else in store for these lovers. Due to the irony of fate, during an aggressive encounter in which Vikram attempts to teach the criminals a lesson, he crosses the line of a Law Keeper and Nisha's innocent brother becomes a victim. Vikram, who doesn't want to destroy his married life and loose the woman he loves, tries to suppress this explosive fact. Nisha becomes determined to punish the officer responsible for her brother's death and eventually uncovers the ugly truth. She is faced by a multi-sided dilemma, either expose the man she loves and loose him forever, fight for the dignity of humanity and values she believes in or to come to terms with her brother's death as a part of fate. The action paced roller coaster ride begins?<br><br>

Written and directed by <b>Dilip Shankar</b> (who earlier directed the Aamir Khan starrer <i>Aatank Hi Aatank</i> in 1995) the film has music by <b>Himesh Reshammiya</b> and lyrics by <b>Sameer</b>. The film also stars <b>Sayaji Shinde, Ganesh Yadav, Ashok Samarth, Dinesh Thakur, Govind Namdeo, Akhilendra Mishra, Ehsaan Khan, Ishrat Ali and Pramod Moutho</b>. <br><br>
The movie will release sometime in October 2004.
