With the theme of Women Empowerment running through the month of March, BollyCurry introduces you to the female singers who are climbing the success ladder at the speed of lightening in the Bollywood Music Industry. These ladies have vocals that have become a part of our lives in the past decade and will somehow remain with us for generations to come.

Shreya Ghoshal

The rising star of current day, she started off her singing career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's award-winning and musical, Devdas. Not only was it a notable start, but she got awarded for the evergreen "Dola Re" from the same movie. Since then, this talented singer's fame knows no bound. She is currently one of India's best female singers. Whether it's a slow and beautiful "Saans Mein Teri" from Jab Tak Hai Jaan or a dance number like "Radha" from Student of the Year, Ghoshal can make any track memorable for you after hearing it just once!

Sunidhi Chauhan

Multiple awards winner, Chauhan is one of the best female singers alongside a few others in Bollywood today. She knows the art of singing with different genres and moods from the slow romantic songs to the fast track ones, all with great versatility. She has won the Filmfare Best Female Singer Awards for "Beedi" from Omkara and "Sheila" from Tees Maar Khan; and several other nominations from her commendable list!
      
 Mamta Sharma

Fondly known as the 'queen' of item numbers, Sharma is the voice behind most of such recent tracks. She holds a degree in Fine Arts while singing remains her passion. She has given her voice for various Telugu songs as well, because she enjoys singing in different languages. She made her mark in Bollywood with the famous track "Munni" from Dabangg.

Mahalakshmi Iyer

The multilingual singer who has given her vocals for songs in many languages, including Tamil. She has a melodious voice that does a certain magic, which gets you humming to her songs. A few of her gripping tracks worth mentioning are: "Tu Jahaan" from Salaam Namaste, "Bol Na Halke Halke" from Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, and "Laung Da Lashkara" from Patiala House; which one cannot miss listening to.

Rekha Bhardwaj

Recepient of the National Film Award, Best Playback Singer (female) for Ishqiya, Bhardwaj has proven to have a unique style of singing. This talent of hers bagged her yet another award last year at the Filmfare Awards, for the Best Playback Singer (Female) for "Darling" from 7 Khoon Maaf. You ought to listen to her songs and notice the distinctness of her voice- one that you will not forget so soon!

Neha Bhasin

She is the winner of Stardust New Musical Sensation (Female) Award for "Dhunki" from Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Her voice has a charm that attracts anyone towards her songs; simply because she knows just how to 'express and impress' through her voice and the lyrics. Another memorable number of hers is "Kuch Khaas" from the award-winning 2008 movie, Fashion.

Anushka Manchanda

Kicking off her career with songs from Tamil and Telugu movies, Manchanda made her singing debut in the Hindi cinema with the title song of Golmaal in 2006. A notable song of hers was "Naughty Naughty" from Cash in 2007, for which she received the Stardust New Musical Sensation (Female) Award. Her recent songs include: "Dil Na Jaane Kyun" from Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story and "Mann Basiyo" from ABCD- Any Body Can Dance.

Neeti Mohan

Multi-talented actress and singer, Neeti started her singing career with "Ishq Wala Love" from the Bollywood Mega Hit, Student of the Year. Shortly after, her second song, "Jiya Re," from Jab Tak Hai Jaan,  also received equal fame and acted as the stepping stone for her career. She also received the Filmfare RD Burman Award 2013 for "Jiya Re". With this potential, we can surely assume that Neeti is the upcoming sensation!

Harshdeep Kaur

One can never miss this name when it comes to songs that send you listen to in the zone of meditation; ones with the Sufi beats. Kaur's vocals go right along with the beats of the music to create a Sufi aura she created in "Ik Onkar" from Rang De Basanti, as well as her recent mesmerizing track that is glued to every audience, "Heer" from Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Shilpa Rao

The voice behind "Woh Ajnabee" from The Train, the romantic "Khuda Jaane" from Bachna Ae Haseeno, and the inspirational "Jazba" from Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl, Shilpa Rao, only at such a young age, has what it takes to bring brilliance out of her singing. She is all set to climb the ladder with yet more hits to come!
