Oolala Girl Vidya In Marathi Movie

Vidya Balan, riding high on two recent consecutive blockbusters, The Dirty Picture at the close of 2011, and Kahaani to kick off her new year in style, is tipped to have

been offered the lead role in Mahesh Manjrekar's untitled Marathi movie. Whilst she has shown keenness to take up this debut proposal to mark her foray into Marathi cinema, she has nonetheless clarified that she would make a final call only after reading and being satisfied with the script. A candid claim which we now fully trust coming from Vidya, who has shown commendable acumen in selecting her projects in general.

Vidya, who can speak up to nine languages fluently, has already won acclaim for her contribution to other regional cinema. For her Bengali debut with Bhalo Theko, she got the Anandalok Puraskar Best Actress Award. For her native Malayalam debut with Urumi this Southern belle received high critical acclaim. Eventually, her advent in Bollywood with the 2005 blockbuster Parineeta casting her in a lead role had been just as well received among critics and audiences alike.

With Majrekar's offer now, if all works well, Vidya will have the opportunity to add another feather to her cap by making a mark in Marathi film industry too.
