Athlete Milkha Singh is happy that actor Farhan Akhtar is playing the lead part in "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", a biopic on his life.
"In my initial interactions with Farhan, I realised he is the best man for the role. He has the same determination and grit as me. Farhan is the best choice for the film," Milkha Singh said in a press statement.
Milkha Singh has been interacting and chatting with Farhan for over a few months and has become very fond of him.
Recently at an event in Chandigarh, Milkha Singh handed over his 1960 Rome Olympic spikes to Farhan in the presence of his family.
Singh's son Jeev said: "I couldn't have imagined anyone else apart from Farhan to play my father. In my first couple of interactions, I felt internally he is a sportsman. Acting may be his profession, but he is true sportsman in spirit."
The film is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Sonakshi doesn't call spot a 'spot'
Sonakshi Sinha believes in giving equal respect to one and all. No wonder she tries to memorise the names of spot boys and production assistants.
Usually spot boys are referred to as 'spot' and production assistants as 'production' on the movie sets, but Sonakshi made it a point to refer to everyone by their first name while shooting for Balaji Telefilms and Phantom Films' "Lootera".
From spot boys to production assistants, she makes an effort to remember everyone's name, said a source.
"Sonakshi's upbringing is splendid. She likes making everyone on the sets feel wanted, no matter how big or small they are. She is everyone's favourite."
"The unit members go to any extent to keep Sonakshi happy for the respect that she extends to them. Sonakshi is actually very funny too. When free, she makes it a point to make everyone laugh. The set just lights up when she is around," added the source.
"Lootera", directed by Vikramaditya Motwani, also features Ranveer Singh.
